Mr. T's Second Grade Class

Please visit my Google Classroom for up-to-date class information, including assignments and due dates. Please email me if you have any questions (mtramutolo@islandparkschools.org).

                   Welcome
The district will be delivering all second graders' items from their desks on Tuesday, June 9th between 8:30-11:30 (unless you borrowed a district device-see below). Someone from the district will call you when they are outside. At that time, if you have any materials such as classroom books or library books, you can bring them outside in a bag labeled with your child’s grade and teacher’s name. The items will be returned to the school and the student’s belongings will be left. It is important for an adult to be home to receive the items.  Please keep in mind social distancing guidelines during this time. If you borrowed a district device (Chrome Book; IPad), your delivery dates are June 15th & 16th.   Again, you will receive a phone call and at the time the device will be picked up and the belongings left.

On Monday, June 15th we will be having a car parade to end our school year! Please see the flyer on our web page and also on our district website.  Please read the letter below from Mr. Randazzo!  I can't wait to see you there!

Assistant Superintendent’s Message- June 10, 2020

Dear Island Park Families,

I hope this message finds you and your loved ones safe and healthy!

We are excited to share with you that on June 15, 2020, the District will be holding an "End of the Year" Car Parade at Lincoln Orens Middle School for all students, Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 8, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM (see the attached flyer). In order to hold this celebration, all afternoon distance learning teaching activities will be canceled.

Although we are all looking forward to seeing all of our students and their families, we must remember that this event must be celebrated while maintaining public health precautions for COVID-19. We are sharing the guidelines in advance, to ensure that all members of the community are aware of and adhere to these established procedures to ensure overall health and safety of all the individuals that participate. In order to make this activity fun and safe for everyone, the following social distancing and personal safety guidelines must be strictly adhered to. The following guidelines were developed in collaboration with the Nassau County Police Department:

  • All parade participants must drive by the LOMS Field, honk, and wave from the car where they can bid farewell to many of our teachers, administrators, and friends.
  • All teachers and staff in attendance will be wearing face coverings and/or masks and will line up around the interior perimeter of the field (behind the black chain-link fencing) and must maintain social distancing at all times.
  • Parents and students are not permitted to exit their vehicle and approach the fence.
  • There must not be person-to-person contact during the celebration. Therefore, teachers and staff are prohibited from accepting signs, gifts, etc. from parents and students.
  • In order to maintain single-flow direction, the District has created a parade route (see below) and will maintain traffic control with the assistance of the NCPD and school custodians.
  • All cars must follow the parade route and adhere to the single-flow direction for the duration of the parade.
  • NCPD will control the flow of traffic onto Austin Blvd. Cars will be prohibited from making left hand turns onto Austin Blvd. NCPD will direct all cars to travel north on Austin Blvd. during and at the conclusion of the parade.
  • For personal safety, students and parents are prohibited from riding on the top of vehicles or out of sun roofs. This will be enforced by NCPD and school custodians.
  • The parade will end promptly at 3:00 PM. All individuals attending the car parade must leave the premises promptly at the conclusion of the car parade at 3:00 PM. Individuals will be prohibited from congregating on school property.
  • Car Parade Route

Thank you in advance for your cooperation. We look forward to seeing you on June 15th!

Fondly,

Vincent Randazzo
Assistant Superintendent
